An Update from HHG’s Sponsored Athlete – Meikayla Moore’s Story

This year seems to be flying by for me, is it for anybody else? Already midway through 2025, and 8 games in for Calgary Wild FC in the Canadian Northern Super League.
Although it’s felt like a whirlwind, I am really enjoying myself, Calgary as a whole is a great city and with much warmer weather on the horizon and now officially in summer there’s not a lot to be down about (sorry for majority of you back home now in winter!).
If my time holding shares has taught me anything is that there are a few similarities between our worlds; ‘strategy and having a long-term vision’ being two. Football as a game is all about strategy, I know this very well, but what I have learnt is that so to is my share portfolio. In working with my adviser over the years we have quite a clear understanding of what my portfolio is aiming to do and achieve. It’s certainly a long term investment for me, and I think it will certainly continue to be for some more years yet as I continue and endeavour to live out my ‘long- term’ football plan.
However additionally over the years there’s been both elements of ‘risk and uncertainty’ in both my footballing career and my portfolio, as we all know markets are unpredictable and economic shifts and global events certainly do impact stock prices and returns we can make. Similar can be said for my football, despite all my preparation and determination under the sun; injuries can occur, selections might not

go the way I hoped and even weather or unexpected plays and calls in a game can affect my teams outcome but also my own individual goals and return.
I like to round out but also alluding to the shared ‘passion and emotion’ across the two; football for me has always revolved around the love I have had for the game, and it has had me gripped since I was 4 years old. Although I did not know about the stock market until my later years, I can heavily appreciate the emotional highs and lows that come with holding shares for all those invested. Both will continue to be a roller coaster of emotions I am sure, but I am grateful and thankful to both for their learnings and teachings.
I want to finish by thanking everyone at Hamilton Hindin Greene for their ongoing support over the years in both my football and portfolio endeavours, it has been a privilege to have them in my corner. I also want to congratulate HHG for 125 years of providing investment advice to clients in the Canterbury region in one form or another, as one of those clients, although a little younger than most, I have always felt very taken care of by everyone at the firm whose paths I have crossed. As a Cantabrian, and having grown up in Christchurch myself, I am proud to have worked with a firm who is also Christchurch based and 100% owned by its employees
