NBR - Arvida Update Gives Shareholders Heart

Shareholders gave Arvida [NZX: ARV] a tick of approval this week after a development update. Grant Davies of sharebrokers Hamilton Hindin Greene says the update from the NZX-listed retirement company was viewed positively by shareholders who have seen the share price trade at a discount to asset backing for a year or so now. The Budget in May saw a continuation of the Government’s fiscal restraint with new initiatives being funded out of the new allocation allowance along with some re-prioritisation of other spending. Revenue forecasts were also lowered again as a result of lower nominal GDP growth. The Government signalled that reaching an operating surplus would be delayed to 2015/16. Fonterra unit investors kick unit values after interim result - Tim Fulton - Fairfax

Investors are punishing Fonterra for a disaappointing balance sheet and dividend payments to farmers, a Canterbury-based share advisor says. The value of Fonterra's listed investment units has dropped up to 20 per cent since the co-op's interim result two months ago.
