Meikayla Moore In Calgary

Since moving to Calgary, Alberta at the end of January it has certainly felt like quite a whirlwind! As with coming to a new country and city the ‘to-do list’ has felt a little impeding at times, but a priority list of the said ‘to-do list’ has definitely helped. I find in my general day-to-day life that notes and lists are extremely beneficial, mental notes for me always disappear so making a physical note and then prioritising ensures it gets sorted.

It is extremely exciting to finally be here, everyone has been very friendly and warm, the same cannot be said because the weather temperatures at times have gotten as low as minus 30º. But Calgary has also been living up to its ‘sunny’ nature, despite the cold and snow the sun has been out a lot more than I was certainly experiencing in the UK, so for that I am incredibly grateful.

Cold can be a lot more bearable when the sun touches your face! We are in the midst of preseason so naturally a higher workload than we would experience in season. I am relishing the challenge, and enjoying the group I am with, we are laying the foundations for an entirely new team. This creates an interesting dynamic but one we are all really excited about, we are all coming in at the same time, we can take the culture and belief wherever we wish to take it, and that is immensely powerful.
